Beginner Puppy Class - 5 Week Fundamentals Course
Beginner Puppy Class - 5 Week Fundamentals Course
April Sunday group puppy classes now live to book on the booking page here all classes between now and then are fully booked but I can help with 1-2-1 training so get in touch to get started on your training journey as early as possible!
I can help with all aspects of training your puppy through 1-2-1 training if there are no spaces available in the group classes.
We invite you to join our popular Positive Paws puppy classes. We have had over 1000 puppies take part in these very popular, small-sized group classes.
Fun and functional classes at our outdoor training facility in the idyllic Cambridge countryside,
Small group sizes to ensure the puppies can relax and concentrate without being overwhelmed. Suitable for all puppies whether they are nervous, confident or somewhere inbetween.
We work on recall, beginnings of loose leash walking, the ‘calm settle’, attention building games, fun exercises and then we aim for 5-10 minutes of carefully managed off-lead play time at the end of each session with appropriately paired up puppies.
Reward-based, ethical and effective training methods to build a strong bond between human and puppy.
We keep the class sizes to 4 puppies per class.
2 humans are allowed to attend per puppy to each class. You can alternate who comes each week.
Suitable for puppies up to 5 months of age, ideally starting a week or two after your puppy’s 2nd vaccination.
The classes are held on a Saturday or Sunday morning at Positive Paws, Comberton Road, Barton, CB23 7BA.
Get in touch for more info or clicking on the booking page to see what upcomming classes we have. If you can’t see any classes suitable for you, feel free to click the contact page and send a message.
I also offer 1-2-1 training should you wish to get a head-start before your puppy joins classes and, depending on location, I can come to your house to help with getting your puppy settled in at home. I work 1-2-1 with puppies 6 days a week.
The 1-2-1s can be done as early as the first week your puppy comes home and I recommend this even if you are looking to join group classes as there is so much I can help you with including getting your new puppy settled into their new home as smoothly as possible, reducing puppy bitting, toilet training advice, how to help your puppy not be too over-excited or nervous of guests over the house, routine, enrichment, appropriate child-puppy interactions and much more.
Please note that there is a maximum of 2 people per puppy allowed to attend each class. You can alternate who comes each week but only 2 per class.
Feel free to get in touch for more information on this.

Positive Paws Dog Training worked with me and my dog at a pace that felt right for us. It gave me practical tools to help me communicate effectively with my dog to help me achieve the behaviours I am looking for, in a gentle and positive way. Training takes place alongside other dogs, which is invaluable for socialisation, helping my dog become comfortable around other dogs and people in a calm and supportive environment

Really recommend Steve’s classes we have taken our puppy to 0-6 months and 6-12 month classes. It has really boosted our confidence with our dog Honey . Small class sizes and really nice people! ( Kerry and Kevin )

Steve has been invaluable to us. We have now completed two courses with our Cockapoo. Steve is incredibly knowledgeable and the courses are well structured. There is plenty of opportunity to ask questions and have tailored advice for your dog. We cannot recommend him highly enough. Our dog Colin is turning into a fantastic, well behaved companion thanks to Steve and his training.

Steve is a brilliant trainer and I highly recommend him. He has been working with me and my working cocker puppy since he arrived home at 8 weeks and we have also been to group classes. Steve has been incredibly supportive throughout and has a wealth of knowledge. We will be attending the other group classes as our pup grows and would book Steve again to help us with any specific training needs as they arise.

Our Newfoundland puppy Basil has just completed his first set of puppy classes here.
Trainers Steve and Christie are extremely knowledgeable and down to earth lovely people!
This training has made such a difference, Basil sits, waits, stays, is fantastic at recall and is almost there with loose lead training.
Made some lovely friends too and looking forward to coming back and trying out the pool and sandpit!!!
